24- Sep -2009 Jersey War Tunnels reaches into the night
One of the island’s premier tourist attractions, Jersey War Tunnels, has this week secured a license to open the site three evenings per week.

The license will allow Jersey War Tunnels to host a number of exciting exhibitions and events and also the opportunity to hire out the site for private and corporate events.

‘In this current testing economic climate it is imperative for businesses to look at the external environment to seek out ways in which to diversify its core activities. Historically nighttime entertainment was commonplace in Jersey, but sadly, unlike many other tourist destinations, this is no longer the case.  With the granting of an evening license will we hope to bring some of this back, by centering our activities around our main ‘Captive Island’ exhibition, including guided talks and period entertainment, it is our aim to dramatically and sensitively enhance the visitor experience,’ commented Jersey War Tunnels Chief Executive, Paul Simmonds.

’Such amendments to our opening times with also greatly assist us next year as we look to commemorate and celebrate the 65th anniversary of Liberation’. Paul Simmonds concluded.

First opened to the public in 1946, Jersey War Tunnels is a site of historic interest offering its visitors a true and accurate account of the five dark years of German Occupation.
