Jersey War Tunnels is looking for student actors to take part in a multi media play based on real events that took place during World War II.
'And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank' by James Still is based on the lives of Ed Silverberg and Eva Schloss, two Jewish teenagers who survived the Holocaust and their friend Anne Frank, who perished. Having grown up in Amsterdam, the play focuses on how they coped with severe restrictions upon their lives, their movement into hiding and finally being sent to concentration camps. The story is skilfully told using dramatic scenes from Ed and Eva's personal accounts.
The play will be directed by Jersey born actress Joanna Woodbridge, who was a cast member during its National Tour. What makes the production such a rare experience is that Eva Schloss will be involved. At the end of each performance there will be the opportunity for discussion with Eva and the actors.
The project is open to all GCSE and A level students and there are nine roles to cast as well as other opportunities for anyone interested in set and costume design, stage management, assistant directing or young historians.
Auditions will take place on 26th and 27th February with rehearsals scheduled for 21st - 25th March after school hours and from the 26th - 3rd April during the day.
The play will be performed at Jersey War Tunnels in the evening between Monday 4th April - Saturday 9th April.
